At The Hare & Hounds, we know that a getaway isn’t quite complete without your four-legged companion by your side. That’s why we’ve created a space where dogs aren’t just allowed—they’re truly welcome.
Set on the edge of the stunning Berkshire countryside, our charming coaching inn offers a relaxed, dog-friendly escape in the heart of Newbury. Whether you're exploring woodland trails, strolling through market streets, or simply curling up by the fire, your dog will feel every bit at home as you do.
Dog-Friendly Rooms
We have designated rooms that are dog-friendly, offering a comfortable space where you and your pup can relax. On arrival, your dog will be welcomed with plenty of fuss from the team.
Each room includes:
- A welcome hamper filled with delicious treats
- Dog bowls to have those treats in
- Cosy doggy bed for them to curl up
We welcome up to two dogs per room, with a small additional charge to cover extra cleaning and doggy treats.

A Proper Treat: The Dog Menu
We believe every guest deserves a good meal—including those with paws.
Our dedicated dog menu, available in the bar and garden areas, features wholesome options featuring grain-free, hypoallergenic chews like Rabbit, Boar, and Buffalo, crafted to suit dogs of all sizes and sensitivities.
The Dog Menu has a selection of natural dog chews, available to buy straight from the bar, from our chosen sustainable supplier, The Canine Menu! Whether you’re in search of a refreshing drink or a satisfying meal, our pubs offer a cosy haven following a picturesque dog walk in the local area.
Pints and Paws
After a long walk through the nearby trails or along the scenic paths, there’s nothing better than settling in with a pint and your pup by your side.
Dogs are welcome throughout our pub and on the outdoor Rose Garden, where water bowls are always topped up and treats are never far away.
