Treat Your Taste Buds at The Hare and Hounds: Try Our Signature Dishes!
Welcome to The Hare and Hounds, your cosy hangout in the heart of Newbury. We love delivering amazing food and drink experiences, from land to sea, and garden to grill, our menu invites you to indulge and enjoy the very best of British ingredients. So, grab a fork and let’s dive in!
From The Land
Here at The Hare and Hounds, we’re all about celebrating top-quality British meats, thanks to our pals at Aubrey Allen. You’ve got to try our 28-day dry-aged steak burger. It’s got house sauce, crispy onions, and comes with rosemary and thyme skin-on fries and ‘nduja ketchup. Or, if you’re after something heartier, try our Pork and ‘nduja ragu with mafalde pasta. This dish is made with love (and 12-hour braised Suffolk pork shoulder, freshly grated Parmesan, and smoked anchovy crumb). Comfort food at its finest!
From The Sea
We’re serious about our seafood, too. Try our Chargrilled fillet of Chalk Stream trout with yoghurt, cucumber, pickled mustard seeds, and garden herbs. Taken from the River Itchen in Hampshire, it’s fresh, it’s tasty, and it’s taken from waters just a stone’s throw from the Hare and Hounds. And because you cannot beat a British classic, don’t miss our Signature cod and chips, with triple-cooked chips, braised marrowfat peas, homemade tartare sauce, and a squeeze of fresh lemon.
From The Garden
We love our greens and veggies here at The Hare and Hounds and cater for vegans and vegetarians so that everyone around the table can indulge in the best. We use top produce from across the British Isles. Our Summer pea and mint risotto, with chargrilled yellow courgette and freshly grated Parmesan, is a must-try. It’s a garden party on your plate!
Discover The Robata Grill
Grilling is an art, and we’ve got it down to a tee with our Robata Grill. Check out our Mixed grill of Cornish lamb with za’atar marinated lamb steak, merguez sausage, brochette, sumac onions, tzatziki, and grilled flatbread. It’s a flavour explosion to enjoy in the sunshine! For those with a big appetite, share our 22oz dry-aged rib of English beef, with triple-cooked beef dripping chips, confit garlic, charred cherry tomatoes, and chervil hollandaise. Go big or go home, right?
The Humble British Potato, Elevated
Let’s talk spuds. The humble potato is a hero in our kitchen. And if you’re looking for sides, they don’t get much better than this. We’ve got Beef dripping skin-on fries with rosemary and thyme sea salt, Triple-cooked beef dripping chips with rosemary, and Pink fir potatoes with yoghurt, cucumber dressing, zaatar, and thyme sea salt. Who knew potatoes could be this posh?
